learn the art,

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art built around technique, leverage, movement and control.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has its roots in Japanese Jujutsu and Judo, which were introduced to Brazil in the early 20th century. The Gracie family played a hugely influential role in developing and popularising the art, refining its techniques around ground fighting, leverage and practical self-defence.

Over time, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu evolved into both a highly effective martial art and a competitive grappling sport, now practised by millions of people around the world and for good reason!

At Guild of Fighters, we respect these traditions while creating a modern, welcoming environment where anyone can learn and develop their Jiu-Jitsu.

GI

Gi Jiu-Jitsu is the traditional format, where practitioners train wearing the BJJ kimono. The grips and techniques available through the Gi create a unique technical challenge and offer countless ways to control and submit an opponent.

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is practised without the traditional kimono, usually in rash guards and grappling shorts. The faster pace and different gripping systems create a dynamic style of grappling, with techniques that translate naturally across modern submission grappling and MMA.
